While there really is nothing to surprise or amaze you, the interface does look minimalist, integrating perfectly with the rest of the Windows 10 UI. With Playlist Downloader, this is not the case. Very often we see tools that are atrociously-looking but highly efficient. In turn, this literally means that there is no focus on the beauty of the app. The idea with such tools is that functionality always prevails. In other words, this is just a simple batch downloader. You'll have to create them in the app, and then download the resulting collection of media files. The name is a tad misleading, seeing as you can't download YouTube playlists. Playlist Downloader is one application amongst dozens that promise users an easy-to-handle tool for grabbing YouTube videos from the internet.

While I was waiting for the mic to arrive I tried it with a cheap ECM8000 nock off and had weird results (perhaps because the mic wasn't calibrated and I didn't use a mic stand) and had a weirdly sharp high end. I recently bought soundID and their mic and I couldn't be happier with the results. Would love to hear some other people's experiences with the program, and whether the results I've got were to be expected or whether it should actually be doing much more. And in fact, some bits seem to actually have gotten worse (the very hi-end seems to be unneccessarily boosted). Blue is the original waveform of the filtersweep I was recording, pink is the waveform of the recording of the filtersweep being played through my speakers without Sonarworks, and green is with Sonarworks.Īlthough the result is a slight improvement (in particular it helped flatten out the huge peak at 120hz), it is pretty underwhelming how far from flat the sound is with it on. I have to use a less-than-ideal room for mixing as a temporary solution while looking for a new flat, and as the acoustics in here are terrible but I won't be here long enough to justify treating it all properly, I decided to give Sonarworks a go.Īfter going through the measuring process and getting the EQ it suggested I use to flatten out the sound in my listening spot, I tried recording a frequency sweep using the Behringer ECM8000 - once with the Sonarworks EQ bypassed and once with it on. |
